Thanks for reading. My name is Dan Cosley and Northwest Portland Guitar Lessons is my teaching studio. As a teacher, I strive to create a welcoming and fun environment that fosters versatile and creatively-fulfilled musicians. I am currently offering 1/2 priced trial lessons!
My Qualifications:
-Master's Degree in Guitar Performance from the University of Denver in xxxx.
-Currently an instructor of guitar at Portland Community College.
-14 years of professional teaching experience, including university positions.
-Worked in Tokyo, Japan for 5 years as a professional guitarist, composer, and teacher.
-I've performed as a classical and electric guitarist in Europe, Asia, and the United States.
-I'm an internationally recognized composer and arranger. My pieces are available through Canadian publisher Les Productions d'OZ and Japanese publisher Gendai Guitar.
-I was the first foreign-born guitarist elected to the Japan Guitar Ensemble Association's board of directors.
-I remain active internationally as a professional performer, composer, improviser and teacher.

My Teaching Approach:
-My lessons are relaxed and fun, but focused. I am open to any style or age group, and any ability level. While my formal training is in classical guitar, I have always enjoyed playing acoustic and electric guitar, and teach a wide variety of styles.
-I like to work with my students on music that truly inspires them. If you take lessons from me, you can expect to learn about technique and theory, but always in relation to songs and pieces by your favorite musicians.
-Similar to how we all learn our mother tongue as children, the emphasis should be on learning to play by playing.
-I believe, above all, that the learning process should be enjoyable!
