bluegrass fiddle lessons in Portland, Oregon For Sale

I am offering bluegrass fiddle lessons for beginning to intermediate level students. Besides covering basic fingering and bowing techniques, I try to help students develop an understanding of music / bluegrass music so that they can create it on their own without relying on musical notation (or a teacher, for that matter).
I teach ?by ear? rather than with music notation, but I try to integrate relevant music theory into the approach, so as to make it easier to understand how to construct your own solos, how to find doublestops, and how to improvise over chord progressions. I teach how to play both instrumental tunes and how to play breaks for vocal tunes, and how to play backup. I charge $30 / hour lesson. I have played fiddle with various Portland area bands including Fern Hill, Rose City Bluegrass, the Columbians, Ida Viper, Bloom Out Inside, and others.
