Vocalists Wanted for Man of La Mancha Community Theater Production in Portland, Oregon For Sale

Out Of The Box Community Theater is looking for talented people who are interested in working on a dynamic and non-traditional "reboot" of the classic musical Man of La Mancha. This show has a compelling score with flamenco/Spanish inspirations, unforgettable songs, and an inspiring message. It is also well suited to performers with a classical music background. We would like to find vocalists with a strong sense of musicianship and a love of music to perform in a unique style that mixes live theater and live music.
Auditions for an exciting production of Man of La Mancha will be held at the Metropolitan Community Church on xxxx NE Broadway St Portland, OR xxxx2. Please plan to attend one of the following two sessions:
- Thursday, May 2, xxxx from 7 -- 9:30 PM (Doors will open at 6:45pm)
- Monday, May 6, xxxx from 7 -- 9:30 PM "
All auditioning should be prepared to sing 32 measures of an appropriate selection that highlights your vocal range and ability. It is not required that the selection be from this show. However, if it is not, the candidate must provide music for the accompanist. Please plan to sing a song that does not need to be transposed from the key in which it is written.
Auditions will be on a first come, first served basis. There will be an audition page for you to complete prior to your audition where you'll have an opportunity to indicate your contact information, performing experience, vocal range and role interests prior to your audition. Because this is a community theater production, all cast and production crew roles are unpaid.
Callbacks, if needed, will be held on Thursday evening, May 9, so please save that date in the event that we wish to hear you read/sing again for a particular role. Those requested for callbacks will be contacted by phone and/or email on Tuesday, May 7th and will be provided with an appt. time for Thursday evening.
The Cast List will be posted on Friday, May 10.
General rehearsals will take place from May 13th to August 8th on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7-10PM. Anyone who auditions will be expected to be able to attend all rehearsals at these times. If you can only make one day of the week, or will miss a few rehearsal dates due to a prior commitment, please let us know- we might still be able to work with you.
Performances will be held Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the second two weekends of August (August 9, 10, 11 and 16, 17, 18.) Location TBD.
