This position concentrates on Personal Lines Auto Liability claims with an opportunity to handle both Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and Med Pay losses in several jurisdictions. Responsibilities: In this Personal Lines inside Claims Specialist - PIP/Med Pay role you will: * Review claims in software tracking system and write or revise the brief description of loss to ensure that it accurately reflects the actual circumstances. * Assess policy coverage for submitted claims and notifies the insured of any issues; determine and establish reserve requirements, adjusting reserves, as necessary, during the processing of the claim. * Plan and conduct investigations of claims to confirm coverage and to determine liability, compensability and damages. * Determine and document, during the investigation process, the potential for subrogation and refers claims to the subrogation group as appropriate. * Evaluate claims for potential fraud and make referrals to the Special Investigations Unit as appropriate. * Assess actual damages associated with claims and conduct negotiations, within assigned authority limits, to settle claims. * Alert underwriting, marketing and/or risk management regarding questionable risks encountered to ensure that potential hazards are clearly documented. * Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. * Knowledge of Medical and legal terminology and practices * Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively and professionally correspond with claimants, insured's, attorneys, doctors, etc. * Good interpersonal, analytical and negotiation skills required. * Detail-oriented organizational skills in a multi-tasking environment * Success driven individual who has demonstrated success in a claims adjusting role * Knowledge of claims investigation techniques, medical terminology and legal aspects of claims * May be required to be licensed in states serviced.
