Tasks: - Performs Construction of new plant, stranding, cabling, splicing, activating, and rough balancing. - Works to dismantle, move, or remove aerial, underground, or building wire/cable equipment/poles/hardware. Installs and replaces power supplies, converters, and terminal boxes. - Maintains knowledge in the area of system layout and strand mapping, and is able to read and understand system maps concerning construction and repair. - Develops familiarity with preventative maintenance (i.e., sweeping, balancing, signal leakage detection and monitoring, voltage measurement, and stand-by power testing). - Performs quality control inspections and assists with monitoring field personnel on a regular basis to assure quality. - Produces reports, as required, on the operation of the plant facility. - Inspects existing grounding or makes new grounding according to the National Electrical Code (NEC) in order to ensure the protection of employees, customers, and equipment from electrical shock or damage. - Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary. - Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
