Description
New business development for commercial real estate loans. The Income Property Loan Officer drives the financial performance of the team through profitable loan growth and a strong risk management discipline by selectively targeting and developing new business relationships while actively deepening existing client relationships. The Loan Officer serves as the Trusted Advisor for clients and prospects who are primarily active commercial real estate owners, investors, developers, and mortgage brokers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Solicitation, negotiation, and submission of commercial real estate loans including Fannie Mae DUS and HomeStreet portfolio construction, bridge and permanent loans. Provides quick and reliable soft quotes for initial indication of interest. Contributes to pre-flight preparation and presents for pre-approval to Credit Administration and Underwriting. Presents non-binding term sheets to clients and prospects for acceptance. Hand-off signed term sheets to Underwriting, Processing and Closing. Manage borrower satisfaction during the underwriting and closing process.
Understands risk. Understands enterprise/guarantor credit risk. Understands “people” risk including integrity, track record, management depth, transparency, and appreciation for long-term relationships. Understands varied and complex real estate issues including capital stacks, leasing risk, tenant credit risk, sub-market and market conditions, title, legal, and covenants.
Familiarity with customer needs beyond commercial real estate lending and matching those needs with other divisions within HomeStreet in order to provide greater customer service and maximize the profitability of each account.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field, or equivalent experience.
At least 5+ years of commercial real estate lending focused on project financing and real estate relationship management.
A proven understanding of the importance of balancing business development and asset quality/risk management.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team to maximize the skills and capabilities of all team members to both deliver comprehensive solutions to our clients and achieve team's financial and risk management goals.
Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, personal contact, and attention to detail, required.
Knowledge of local commercial and multi-family real estate markets.
Valid Washington state driver's license, vehicle and liability insurance, required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters of Business Administration.
Experience working as a credit underwriter, credit officer and/or as a workout manager.
Experience with selling Fannie Mae DUS loans.
Experience with selling recourse construction and bridge loans on all property types.
Experience with selling recourse and non-recourse permanent loans on all property types.
