xxxx845 - Land Surveyor II This position serves as a Land Surveyor, supporting the Right-of-Way Asset Strategy Program & providing support to the Supervisory Land Surveyor within the Surveying & Mapping Department (TERM). The Surveying & Mapping Department is responsible for providing land survey & mapping support in the maintenance, operation, & development of company facilities. This position involves extended overnight travel, up to 75% out of town, with the remaining 25% in the office. Some project areas assigned may contain poison oak, wasps, & other pests. In addition, assignments may include work in proximity to heavy equipment, highway traffic, or energized high voltage facilities. Responsibilities: Manage, oversee, & perform route, engineering design, property, geodetic, & construction surveys primarily in support of the Transmission Line Engineering, Facility Engineering, & Realty Sections Inspect & verify survey deliverables, including: Field note sheets, Electronic data collection files, Computation sheets, CAD base maps, Record of Surveys & land acquisition exhibits, Encroachment & right-of-way exhibits & GPS network & OPUS reports Provide field inspection monitoring on contract surveys. Coordinate & direct the work of survey crew personnel Perform complex computations & analysis using technical software (i.e., Trimble Business Center, Starnet, Corpscon, Bentley MicroStation & Inroads, ESRI ArcGIS, MS Office) Manage & collect survey data for transmission line & facility projects, including static, RTK, & VRS GPS data, in addition to terrestrial & laser scanning data. Perform field surveys in support of the operation, maintenance, & construction of high voltage electric transmission & other facilities Complete associated documentation & archiving as required Coordinate field survey activities with other functional organizational units Requirements: Professional Land Surveyor License required Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying or Civil Engineering preferred Minimum 8 years land surveying experience required Knowledge of professional surveying practices & procedures; state & federal laws affecting land surveying & boundaries Proficiency with the operation & maintenance of Trimble & Leica total stations, GPS equipment, & electronic levels & other various measuring instruments Expertise with state plane coordinates, horizontal & vertical datums, network adjustments (least squares), & geodetic & GPS surveying.
